Outside Villa La Angostura on the pretty península of Puerto Manzano, at the edge of lake Nahuel Huapi, are the cabañas Colina del Manzano. This is not our usual sort of accommodation, but we feel that it is ideal for couples or families who are looking for an independent self-catering option in an outstanding property. The staff at this property are particularly helpful and gracious. The style of the houses (cabins is not a good translation of these buildings as they are spacious and very well furnished) is alpine, with wood construction inside and out and a rustic, comfortable and cosy feel to the interiors. The sitting and dining rooms have large windows overlooking the mountain ridge or the lake. The houses are very well equipped in every sense with complete kitchens and bathrooms, sitting and dining rooms, satellite television, telephone and very comfortable furniture. The houses are on two levels, some with two bedrooms and some that can accommodate up to six people (this is a particularly cost-effective proposition for families or friends travelling together). One cabin is ideal for couples. There is daily maid service, a welcome basket on arrival, a clubhouse on the property with library, tv, dvds, reception desk with tourism information, mountain bikes, canoes and fishing equipment. There is a small swimming pool on the property also. Breakfast is included in the cost of your cabin and for those who do not wish to cook lunch or dinner you can order a pizza to be delivered or take a five minute drive to the nearby village where there are numerous restaurants (one of which is world-famous). The property is 10 km. from Villa La Angostura (20 pesos by taxi), a short drive to the local ski hills, and a four minute walk to the lake.
