The “Lagos del Sur trip”, as this area is also known, includes the captivating San Martín de los Andes Village and the Lanín National Park in the province of Neuquén; San Carlos de Bariloche and  Nahuel Huapi National Park, in the province of Río Negro; El Bolsón and the National Park Lago Puelo,along with Esquel and the Los Alerces National Park, in the province of Chubut.

When

All year long. If you are mainly interested in  winter sports,  the ski season is between mid June and mid October, always depending on the amount of snow.   If your main interest is fishing and hunting, the season starts in spring and ends in autumn. The most remote properties  are generally open in November and close in May.

Why

For skiing while the snow in other hemispheres is melting. To walk among the virgin woods. To sail on the peaceful rivers and mountain bike on challenging paths. To visit a spa (there are many in the region).  To be impressed by the indescribable beauty of the glaciers.

Accommodation

The lakes region has some of the best hotels and hosterías of the country. Many of the hotels and estancias offer “all inclusive” packages, as they are far away from other facilities.  Having a vehicle is highly recommended, although most of the hotels offer transfer service.
