El Calafate is a little village in Patagonia, situated in the southern border of Lago Argentino in the southwest of Santa Cruz Province, over 185 m. above sea level. |

El Calafate has a dry climate, with a maximum temperature of 19°C in summer and a minimum of -2° in winter. From December to February the sun rises at 5.30 a.m. and sets at 11.00 p.m. In June, July and August the days are short, with only 8 hours of sunlight. |

Why |
El Calafate is an important tourist destination, since it is from here that all the glacier trips begin. Be sure to see Los Glaciares National Park which has forty seven glaciers including the Perito Moreno Glacier (one of the most visited glaciers in the world) and the Cerro Chaltén and Cerro Torre. |
